Passports

A U.S. passport is a requirement to participate in any oversees Missions Trips including Vizcaino and soon La Posada. You can find details of how to obtain or renew your passport here and here. The state department says the it can take up to eight weeks to get a passport, but be aware that it might take even longer.

If you have a passport please check the expiration date to make sure that it will still be valid for your trip. If you don’t have a passport submit you application as soon as possible.

 UPDATE 02/29/2008

You can now apply for a less expensive “Passport Card” that will be good for crossing the border between Mexico and the United States.  According to the U.S. Passport website,

“The passport card will facilitate entry and expedite document processing at U.S. land and sea ports-of-entry when arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda.  The card may not be used to travel by air.  It will otherwise carry the rights and privileges of the U.S. passport book and will be adjudicated to the exact same standards. “
