I received a voicemail from Karen last night around 7:00 PM. She said that Jeff is doing great, he is up and about and was not needing pain medication. Praise the Lord! They wanted to let everyone know that they appreciate the continued prayer of everyone both in and out of our church body. As always, please continue to pray for a quick and smooth recovery.
She also wanted me to inform everyone that the hospital is not allowing flowers and gifts in Jeff’s room. She appreciates the desire to send something but does not want it to go to waste.
UPDATE 4:00 PM: I received the following in an email from Deanna this afternoon. Please continue to pray for Matt’s recovery.
Matt’s still in quite a bit of pain. The doctors prepared us for this - they said that Matt’s recovery would be much slower than Jeff’s. I guess it’s harder to have something taken out than to have something put in. Anyway, so glad to hear that Jeff is feeling so much better. If you could just ask the church to continue to lift up Matt for healing - he’s still on the vicadin and his one big incision is causing a lot of discomfort.

May 2, 2008 11:45 AM: I spoke with Deanna and she gave me an update on Jeff and Matt’s situation. They are both up and walking around. They’re in alot of pain, but they are doing well. Matt is about to be discharged. Jeff is anticipated to be in the hospital for about four more days. The doctors tested his Creatinine (?) levels and they seem to indicate that the new kidney is working. Deanna said her and Karen are tired but doing well. Please continue to pray for both Jeff and Matt’s recovery. Thanks. Jason
May 2, 2008 3:30 PM: Deanna sent me this picture taken this morning about 10:00 AM. Enjoy!

Here is the latest news that I have received on Jeff and Matt’s surgeries. Matt went in to surgery about 12:25 PM this afternoon and Jeff went in about 1:40 PM. The surgery is estimated to take about 3 hours. As soon as I hear more from the hospital I will write another post. Thanks for your continued prayer through this time.
UPDATE - 05/01/08 4:45 PM: I just got off the phone with Joe. Matt is out of surgery and in recovery. Joe said that Matt’s portion of the surgery went really well. Jeff has about another hour left in his surgery. I’ll continue to post updates as I get them.
UPDATE - 05/01/08 5:35 PM: Jeff just got out of surgery and the surgeon told Karen that everything went smoothly and he is doing well. The doctors will continue to do blood tests and monitor him overnight to see make sure that Matt’s kidney is responding well to the transplant. Please be praying that the kidney will respond well and that it will start to function properly. Also, Matt is coming out of sedation. Please continue to pray for his recovery. As always, I’ll continue to post information as I get it.
